Datost is Slack-native, but the same AI data analyst is also available as a Google Chat app. Add Datost to a space or message it directly, and it answers questions against your connected warehouses and business tools — no context switch required.

What you get

  • Mention @Datost in any Google Chat space to ask a question; the reply is posted in the same thread.
  • Direct message Datost for private, one-off analysis.
  • Per-user rate limits (default 20 queries/hour, 100/day) that you can tune per connection.
  • Allow-list or block-list specific spaces on a connection so Datost only responds where you want.
One Google Chat space maps to one Datost organization. The first workspace that claims a space owns it.

Install flow

Datost uses a just-in-time install model driven from inside Google Chat.
1

Add Datost to a space or DM

A Google Workspace admin installs the Datost Chat app from the Google Workspace Marketplace, then adds it to a space or opens a DM with it.
2

Mention Datost

The first @Datost mention in an unclaimed space creates a pending installation and replies with a one-time setup link scoped to that space.
3

Claim the space

Open the setup link while signed in to Datost. The space is bound to your current Datost organization and activated immediately.
4

Ask away

Mention Datost with a question in any thread, or DM it directly. Responses stream back into the same thread as card messages.
Setup tokens expire after 24 hours. If the link expires, mention Datost in the space again to generate a new one.

Admin install vs per-user

The Marketplace app is installed once per Google Workspace by an admin. Individual users do not need to authenticate separately — any user in an installed space can mention Datost, subject to your allow-list and rate limits. Per-space claiming to a Datost org is a one-time action taken by whoever clicks the setup link first.

Current limitations

Google Chat is a lighter-weight surface than Slack. A few Slack-only capabilities are not yet available:
  • No slash commands. Scheduled metrics, subscriptions, and /datost utilities are Slack-only today.
  • No interactive thread actions. Button-driven follow-ups (pin, share, rerun) that Slack exposes are not wired up in Chat.
  • No proactive posts. Datost only replies when mentioned or DM’d; it does not push alerts into spaces.
  • Cards, not Block Kit. Responses render as Google Chat cardsV2, which supports a narrower set of formatting than Slack Block Kit.
