Datost is Slack-native — most of the product happens without leaving your workspace. Here’s the map.

The four interactions

@mention in a channel or thread

@Datost how many signups last week? Works in channels Datost is a member of. Follow up in the thread to keep context.

Direct message

DM Datost for private questions. No channel invite needed.

Slash commands

/datost link, /datost schedule, /datost help for account linking, scheduled reports, and more.

Scheduled reports

Recurring AI research jobs posted to channels, DMs, or group chats on your cadence.

Before you ask

1

Link your Slack identity

Run /datost link once to connect your Slack user to your Datost account. Without this, Datost can’t enforce your role permissions.
2

Invite Datost to the channel

/invite @Datost in any channel you want it to work in.
3

Ask

@Datost ... and watch the thread.

While a query is running

  • Datost reacts to your message with a progress indicator.
  • React with ❌ to cancel a running query. See mentions and threads for the full list of recognized reactions.
  • Results post in the thread: answer, chart, underlying SQL, and a link to the full response page in the web app.

When something goes wrong

  • Datost couldn’t find the data → the tables may be gated by your role. Ask an admin to grant access, or see roles & permissions.
  • Query timeout → try narrowing the question (shorter date range, fewer fields).
  • Still stuck → support.
